Job Description:
Our Ottawa based government client is seeking a bilingual LAN Desktop Support Administrator for a contract position running from date of award until March 31, 2011.

All candidates must possess Enhanced Security Clearance. Preference will be given to bilingual candidates.

DUTIES

Technology implementation:
• installs and configures workstations, and network peripherals such as printers, scanners, PDAs etc. for clients
• Installs and configures operating systems, application software, and various software automation tools and utilities on workstations
• Performs hardware life-cycle management under the guidance of the LAN Manager
• Develops and maintains technical documentation

Technology Support:
• Provides Level 1 and 2 problem support to clients
• Provides LAN administration and maintenance such as populating Group Policy
• Objects (GPOs) and the addition/deletion of user and Email accounts
• Provides advice and training to users relating to application software
• Provides leadership and technical advice to Workstation

The ideal candidate will have::
  • 5 years experience installing Windows XP on workstations
  • 5 years experience installing Office 2000/2003
  • 5 years experience installing Internet Explorer
  • 5 years experience installing Outlook 2000/2003
  • minimum 5 years of knowledge and experience in TCP/IP and Ethernet
  • minimum of 5 years experience installing and upgrading computer workstations including CPU, memory, NICS, hard drives , etc.
  • 5 years experience providing problem support to users in a Microsoft Windows/Office environment
  • 5 years experience providing problem support to users in a Citrix PS4 environment
  • MCP certification (an asset)
  • MCSE certification (an asset)
